About Me

Hi there! I'm Dr. Kelly Rose Thomas. You can call me Kelly. After living in 8 states during the past 11 years, my family and I have settled in the “City Above the Clouds,” Woodland Park, CO. I’m excited to share my 3 professional loves with my new community: physical therapy, endurance coaching, and wellness.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

My fascination with the human body sparked during my enlistment in the Air Force as an aerospace physiology technician. After my enlistment ended, I completed bachelor and master of science degrees in biology, then a doctorate degree in physical therapy (GO TAR HEELS!!!).

I’ve been a physical therapist since 2011, working with patients across the United States with sports, orthopedic, pelvic floor, obstetric, neurological, lymphedema, post-surgical, and vestibular physical therapy needs. The last 5 years, my clinical focus shifted towards pelvic floor, obstetric, and sports physical therapy.

It’s been my dream since 2012 to open my own practice that offers specialized services, where appointment times are longer than 20 minutes, and care is comprehensive, one-on-one, and individualized. I recently turned my dream into reality and opened my own physical therapy practice in Woodland Park, offering online (telehealth) and in-office appointments!

ENDURANCE COACHING

In 2012, while working in Wilmington, NC, several of my patients with sports-related injuries were participating in a race called “Beach to Battleship.” Sounded interesting (the race, not the injuries), so I decided to join them and signed up for the 70.3 distance.

With a few marathons of experience and 12 weeks of training using the only triathlon training book I could find at the local bookstore, I was ready! Or so I thought… let’s just say I learned A LOT of lessons on race day. Since successfully finishing Beach to Battleship, I have completed many more triathlons (check out my favorite races).

My pursuit of lifelong learning and love for coaching led me to the coaching pathway; the goals and abilities of my amazing athletes, along with advances in human performance research, are the reasons I continue. Fun fact: I was once interviewed about coaching credentials by Triathlete Magazine. Check out the article here!

WELLNESS

The advances and successes in medicine over the last 10 years are astounding! Unfortunately, the majority of health care providers have overbooked schedules and contracts with insurance providers, limiting the treatments they can provide and time they spend with each person. They are often unable to help their patients achieve the best possible outcomes. Luckily, health and wellness coaching helps build a bridge between medical recommendations and how to implement in our daily lives. “Eat healthy” turns into “here are some methods you can try to eat healthier,” sleep 7-9 hours/night turns into “here are some contributing factors why you may not be able to get to sleep in 5-10 minutes.”

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine and Integrative Women’s Health Institute have transformed my thinking from simply a practitioner to a holistic health care provider. I’d love to work with you to help you thrive in life!
